“Earlier this month Jeremy Brett would have turned 78. Despite having a very varied and distinguished career as an actor, he is invariably best know for playing Sherlock Holmes in the Granada series. For me personally, he was and always will be; THE Victorian Sherlock Holmes.

He was mesmerizing in the role, a charismatic and talented actor who brought a multi faceted and certainly immensely challenging character to life, capturing his essence in a way I believe had never been done before so completely. He has ruined me for any other actor to play the role in period and when I reread the canon now I hear Jeremy’s voice in my head speaking Sherlock’s lines, not because I am most familiar with his version, but because his portrayal embodies Holmes’ character so completely.

It was Jeremy Brett who brought Sherlock Holmes into my life and as the founder of Sherlockology, I owe him a great deal. Were it not for him, I would not have watched that first episode on BBC One in July 2010 of ‘Sherlock: A Study in Pink’ and thus Sherlockology would never have come about. Therefore, I would like to indulge in a little tribute to the magnificently sublime and forever missed, Jeremy Brett.”

Also there were canon queer characters in this ep (which is a first), and Holmes expressed much more disgust than usual at the villain hurting them.

(S6 is AMAZING, by the way. Like… holy shit. Every episode I’ve seen so far this season has been phenomenal, not just “LOL Arthur Conan Doyle your mystery plots suck but I love Jeremy Brett and Watson’s eye-rolling and Sherlock Holmes in general with a burning passion” phenomenal, but REALLY EXCITING AND SCARY AND INTRIGUING PHENOMENAL. As much as I adore and sometimes miss the S1-S2 dynamic between Holmes and David Burke’s Watson, I have to say I really adore Edward Hardwicke’s Watson too, and S6 overall is my favorite season so far.)

‘I’ll always ship Rose and The Doctor over The Doctor and River.. Ever since episode one of season one I sensed that Rose and The Doctor would fall in love, although I did feel really weird about her and the 9th because his looks showed age over Rose. But once he regenerated I was really happy and excited for the two. I grew emotions for the two and it always made me smile when he got possessive over her, and got feisty when something bad happened to her. They were such a beautiful couple and Rose always accepted the adaptation of his life and never thought twice before putting him first. I also loved how she grew to be his equal and became just as clever and brave as him even though she was only human. However when I see The Doctor and River together I never get quite the same feeling even though they care for each other the same way, and she is his equal I just never felt the same love connection.
